The Wyoming Department of Transportation opened a single lane of the 15th Street Bridge today.

Traffic from both directions is allowed to cross the bridge one direction at a time, using the southbound lane, according to a WYDOT news release.

WYDOT has installed temporary stoplights at either end of the bridge. Signs warn drivers to expect red lights of 2 minutes or more. Signs have also been installed on Third street, stating, “15th Street weight limit, legal loads only.”

WYDOT Spokesman Matt Murphy says that no oversized or overweight loads that would normally require a permit are allowed on the bridge.

The northbound lane will not reopen until repairs to the bridge have been made.  WYDOT is currently working to evaluate the bridge, including surveying the bridge for the design of the repair work. That work isn’t expected until late fall, following more investigation, design work and contractor selection.
