Preparation for the 2026 high school football season rolls along for the Laramie Plainsmen. LHS completed 10 practices in Week 1 of Fall Camp last week. That included two-a-day practices from Monday through Thursday, and then one practice on Friday and one on Saturday. After Friday’s session, Laramie did their Gold Card fundraiser. The season debut is on Friday, August 28, in Casper, at the Natrona County Mustangs.

LARAMIE PLAINSMEN FOOTBALL CONTINUES WITH FALL CAMP 2026

After three days without full pads, the team slowly built to their first full-padded practice last Thursday. Third-year head coach Jake Chick said, “The biggest piece that’s apparent on the field is how fast we’re playing.”

What does that mean? The team is reading and reacting to what’s happening on a play rather than overthinking alignments and assignments. Coach Chick believes this team can pick up the offensive and defensive systems quickly.

KOWB’s David Settle visited with two seniors, Isaac Kirsch and Noah Resse, after Friday’s practice to find out how things were going from their perspective. They mentioned team chemistry, what’s stood out about the first week, how the pads have helped, working on the finer details, and what’s going on with the offense and defense.

Laramie returned to the practice field on Monday morning, as the team has two-a-day practices through Wednesday. With teachers back in buildings on Thursday, the Plainsmen will trim back to one practice per day. LHS football has its first fundraising gala on Thursday night. It is sold out. On Friday, the team will host a scrimmage at Deti Stadium at 6 p.m.
