A key game for playoff seeding in 4A football will happen on Friday in Gillette, when the Laramie Plainsmen face the Thunder Basin Bolts. LHS won its third game last week, while Thunder Basin lost to cross-town rival Campbell County. Both teams would love to move up in the standings with one week left. The kickoff is at 6 p.m. at Bolts Stadium.

LARAMIE FOOTBALL GAME PREVIEW WEEK 7 OF 2025

Laramie (3-4) rolled to a 63-0 thumping of Cheyenne South on Senior Night last Friday. The Plainsmen scored in all three phases of the game and forced five turnovers. LHS had 294 yards of total offense, but they averaged 9.5 yards per play. Junior Isaac Kirsch had a touchdown run of 66 yards, a TD catch of 26 yards, and an interception return for a TD. Quarterback Dax Parvin was 10-10 for 123 yards and 3 TD passes. The defense allowed only 11 yards of total offense and had five sacks.

Laramie is averaging 261 yards and 21.4 points per game. They allow 285 yards and 20.5 points per game. Parvin is the No. 4 passer in 4A football at 129.4 yards per game. He had thrown 11 TDs to 4 interceptions. Isaac Kirsch is No. 5 in receiving at 49.6 yards per game. Defensively, Tyler Gale leads 4A at 15.4 defensive points per game.

Head coach Jake Chick discussed last week’s win, trying to take momentum from that into this game, taking it one game at a time, and preparing for Thunder Basin.

Thunder Basin is 2-5 on the season. They lost at No. 2 Campbell County, 17-14, last week. The Bolts have a big-time offense led by the No. 1 passing attack in the state. They average 221 yards per game through the air. They are No. 2 in total offense at 351 yards and 25 points per game. Hadley Hudson leads 4A in passing at 215.3 yards per game. He’s thrown 13 TDs and only three interceptions. His top target is Garrett Breuer, who leads 4A at 73.6 receiving yards per game with 6 TD catches. Fellow senior Taven Young is No. 3 in receiving at 62.6 yards per game and 4 TD receptions. Defensively, the Bolts allow 345 yards and 25.7 points per game. They are No. 10 in total defense and surrender 215 yards rushing and 127 through the air. Hudson leads TBHS on defense and averages 14.1 defensive points per game, while Zander Kumm is right behind that at 13.6 defensive points per game.

Series History

The Plainsmen seek their first victory against Thunder Basin. The Bolts have won every game between the two schools. They are 8-0 versus Laramie since the series started in 2017.
