It's that time of season where the only thing the matters, is which teams hoist the trophy, and not what the coaches/media think.

In 4A Boys, the top 2 seeds in the East are ranked #1 and #2, while the top 2 seeds in the west are ranked #3 and #4. #1 Thunder Basin hosts the East Regional Tournament. #2 Cheyenne Central will be there as well, and didn't drop in the rankings after their loss to unranked Cheyenne South last week. #3 Green River hosts the West Regional Tournament and is 12-0-1 in the their last 13 games. They needed everyone of those wins to claim the top seed in the west. #4 Kelly Walsh is responsible for that 1 tie, and could face the Wolves again, depending on what happens Friday. Laramie will head into the post-season ranked #5, and needs to be careful, because they face an unranked Cheyenne South team, that's look to qualify for the state tournament, for the first time in school history.

It's Worland and everyone else in 3A boys. Heading into the state tournament, the Warriors are undefeated vs. 3A opponents, although #4 Buffalo had them on the ropes earlier this week. #2 Star Valley has the weekend off to prep for the state tournament. #3 Lander has been on a roll as of late, but it's those 2 early season SE quadrant losses, that came back to haunt. As a results, the Tigers have to play in the qualifier game, and then rematch Buffalo in the first round of the state tournament. Then there's #5 Rawlins, who is ranked for the first time all season. The Outlaws won the SE for the first time, and are waiting to see which team they play in the first round of the state tournament.

4 of the top 5 4A girls teams come from the east. #1 Cheyenne Central, #2 Thunder Basin, #4 Laramie and #5 Campbell County will all play in Gillette. The Lady Camels surprised the Lady Bolts last week, and could rematch on Friday in the regional semi-finals. Elsewhere, #3 Rock Springs is the lone team from the west that's ranked. They have the top seed at the west regional tournament.

Cody maybe the unanimous #1 team in Girls 3A, but #4 Star Valley found a weakness in the armor. In other words, don't crown the Fillies as repeat champs just yet. 2 ranked teams have to play in qualifier games this weekend. Those 2 are #2 Worland (at home vs. Newcastle) and #5 Buffalo, who just beat in the Lady Warriors in the regular season finale. #3 Douglas won the NE quadrant for the first time in school history, and are waiting to see who their first round state tournament opponent is.
