Thanks to a strong start the Laramie Plainsmen picked up their first conference win of the season with a 62-44 victory over the Sheridan Broncs Saturday at the LHS gym. Laramie opened the game on an 18-2 run and never trailed, as they rebounded from a conference opening loss to Gillette the night before.

All five Plainsmen starters scored two points each as LHS began with a quick 10-0 lead. They eventually led 20-6 after the first quarter. Despite being out-scored 11-10 in the second period, Laramie held a 30-17 edge at halftime. The advantage grew to 21 points in the second half before Sheridan rallied. Behind some full-court pressure and mistakes by the Plainsmen, the Broncs pulled within 10, at 52-42, but a key steal and lay-up by Tyler Loose stemmed the tide, and LHS pulled away for the final 18-point margin.

Loose led four Laramie (11-3, 1-1) players in double figures with 18 points. Sam Hainline and Sam Feldman added 13 and 11, respectively, while Dominick Villarreal chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. The Plainsmen shot 50 percent in the game and held Sheridan to 29 percent. Both teams were sloppy with the basketball. LHS had 22 turnovers, while the Broncs finished with 23.

Sheridan (6-8, 1-1) was led by Reed Ritterbusch with a game-high 23 points. Dylan Daniels scored 14.
