Bison Take Two from Laramie
For the first time the Cheyenne South Bison came to the Gem City and swept Laramie on the basketball court.

Laramie Lady Plainsmen
The tough finishes for the Lady Plainsmen on Friday night’s continued. For Laramie it was another loss by six points or less for a third consecutive Friday.
The Lady Plainsmen rallied from a 10-point deficit in the third quarter and had a chance to tie or win the game with less than ten seconds left after steal by Jennifer Aadland. Sekoya Romero’s off-balance jumper from the right baseline was no good, and even though LHS got the rebound, they couldn’t get a shot off before the buzzer.
Head coach Laura Pollard said,
“Obviously very disappointed in the first half, cause there’s your ball game… this was a hard one overall, because I thought we were ready.”
Kade Setright led Laramie with 16 points and nine rebounds. Olivia Dorrell added nine points and three rebounds. LHS shot 33 percent from the field and went only 4-of-14, 29 percent at the foul line. They did hold a 44-39 edge in rebounding.
Cheyenne South was led by Karli Noble’s 15 points. They shot 36 percent and went 10-for-17, 59 percent at the stripe.
It was the fifth consecutive loss for the Lady Plainsmen, who drop to 7-7 on the season and 0-3 in conference.
Laramie Plainsmen
The fourth-ranked Cheyenne South Bison jumped out to a 19-7 lead and beat the Plainsmen in Laramie for the first time.
Isaiah Dicks scored 11 of his points in the first quarter. The Bison also kept Laramie’s leading scorer, Jake Aadland, without a point until two free throws late in the first half. The biggest lead for South was 28-12 in the second quarter. The Plainsmen struggled and shot only 23 percent in the first half.
Laramie rallied within six points early in the third. A 7-1 run by LHS closed the margin down to 30-24. South answered back with five quick points that pushed the lead back to double figures. The Plainsmen made another push in the fourth, when they cut the Bison lead to 41-34, but that’s as close as Laramie got.
Head coach Ryan Puckett said,
“The first half we dug too big of a hole to come back out of. We came out and threw our best punch at them the second half… it goes back to we haven’t put a full game together yet this season.”
Puckett did mention he’s still looking for that continued improvement week-by-week.
The Plainsmen were led by Andrew Garcia with 12 points and four rebounds. They shot 33 percent from the floor.
South was led by Dicks, who had 19 points and 11 rebounds. The Bison shot 51 percent from the field and out-rebounded LHS, 30-26.
