The 4-A East Conference Swimming and Diving Championships will be contested in Cheyenne Thursday and Friday.

Laramie is one of six teams competing along with Gillette, Sheridan, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East and the host team, Cheyenne South.

L-H-S head coach Tom Hudson feels good about their numbers going into the conference meet.

“We’re ready to go; fairly healthy across the board. There’s a couple injuries that we’re dealing with, but overall we’re excited to go in to this conference meet.”

Laramie has 24 state qualifiers and a goal of getting a few more.

The Camels are considered the favorites with the Lady Plainsmen, as well as the Broncs and Indians battling for second place.

Hudson said we can only take care of what we can control.

“We’re just going to swim as hard as we can. Our goal is to place as many girls back in to the consolation finals and finals.”

Hudson also mentioned senior diver Ryleigh Kobbe is a favorite to win a conference title, but outside of her, they’re more about their depth than favorites to win events.

The prelims begin at 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The finals will start Friday at 10 a.m.
