Wyoming Highway Patrol dispatcher Jo Tennant was honored recently by the Wyoming Game Wardens Association (WGMA) as the "Law Enforcement Support Person of the Year". She was nominated for the award by game wardens from the Pinedale region.

Tennant received praise from regional office managers, non-law enforcement personnel and game wardens. The Wyoming Highway Patrol says Tennant received the award to a standing ovation and her supervisor said in a letter that she well deserved the award and recognition.

The Wyoming Highway Patrol operates a centralized communications center based in Cheyenne. In addition to dispatching Troopers, Wyoming Highway Patrol dispatchers also dispatch via "SALECS" or the State Agency Law Enforcement Communications System. SALECS enables dispatchers to communicate with and dispatch calls to:

  • Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation
  • Wyoming Game & Fish Department
  • Wyoming Outfitter Board
  • Wyoming Livestock Agents
  • U.S. Bureau of Land Management Law Enforcement
  • U.S. Forest Service Rangers
  • State Brand Inspectors
  • State Park Rangers

Tennant began her career as a dispatcher with the Wyoming Highway Patrol in 1988 as a call taker and radio operator.
