Starting in June researchers will begin trapping grizzly bears as part of population monitoring. Population monitoring is necessary because grizzly bears are a threatened animal in the region.

State, federal and tribal agencies will post warning signs around major access points in every area bear field work is being conducted. The signs are posted for safety reasons and it is advised that people stay away from those areas.
