Competition Underway In Laramie For Special Olympics Wyoming
Athletes from across the state of Wyoming have gathered in Laramie to compete in the 2011 Wyoming Special Olympic Games. Over 600 athletes will be competing in a variety of athletic events this weekend including basketball, aquatics, power lifting, gymnastics as well as track and field.
The weekends events kicked off yesterday as law enforcement officers arrived at the University of Wyoming with the official torch. Competition will begin this morning and conclude at 1pm Saturday.
Friday's events include basketball, gymnastics, and aquatics. Basketball will be played at the University of Wyoming Field House, gymnastics will take place at the Wyoming School of Gymnastics and aquatics will be held at the Laramie Community Recreation Center.
Athletic events will be held at Laramie High School Saturday morning with competition finishing at 1pm. Come out and support the 50 Laramie athletes and the hundreds of other competitors in a weekend full of fun and excitement!
