If the coaches and media know what they're talking about in the latest rankings, this is week is a big week for redemption in the bigger classes, while most of the smaller class teams are putting the finishing touches, on locking up their seed for the upcoming playoffs.

The 4A rankings are unchanged this week, (Gillette, Cheyenne East, Natrona, Laramie, Rock Springs) but one team is hoping to undo that. It would perhaps be the upset of the season if #4 Laramie could win at unanimous #1 Gillette on Saturday, but it will be senior day for the Lady Camels, which should be motivation enough for the defending champs to thwart an upset.

This weekend is HUGE in 3A, as the top 5 ranked teams will battle it out vs. each other. On Friday, it's #1 at #2 AND #3 at #4, in a pair of games where one team is out for redemption or payback, depending on their point of view. The undefeated and unanimous Lady Bearcats of Douglas, beat #2 Worland by 5 points in the Lady Bearcats' Den. Two months later, it's re-match time in the Lady Warriors gym. Elsewhere #3 Star Valley has 2 scores to settle, against the 2 Southwest teams that beat them last month. First up is a Friday road trip to #4 Lyman, who dropped a couple of spots after last week's surprise home loss vs. unranked Cody. Then on Saturday, the Lady Braves have a home rematch vs. #5 Mountain View. The scheduled action this weekend is like one big powder keg, ready to explode! It could be considered a preview of the regional and/or state tournaments.

All of the top seeds in 2A are secure, so the only thing that the top 4 ranked teams have to play for this weekend, is momentum. Pine Bluffs is the unanimous #1, followed by Big Horn, Wyoming Indian and Rocky Mountain. Greybull is ranked #5, but it's hard to say what seed the Lady Buffs will get, with the log jam in the Northwest. They could get the #2 seed with a win, and some help, so pardon the pun, but the ball is not necessarily in their court.

Farson-Eden has climbed to the top in 1A, by 1 vote over defending champ St. Stephens. The Lady Pronghorns have already wrapped up the #1 seed in the Southwest, and are in an unusual situation. There's the matter of a big game at #3 Little Snake River on Saturday. F-E wouldn't mind keeping their top ranking going into the post-season, but a loss wouldn't hurt their playoff spot, because it's already secured. Meanwhile, Lingle-Ft. Laramie moves up to #4, by 1 vote ahead of Encampment.
