Wyoming High School Boys and Girls Soccer Rankings: Apr. 4, 2019
Due to an email server crash, we had to delay the new coaches/media rankings by 1 day.
There's a new #1 team in 4A Boys this week. Thunder Basin is on top and unanimous, after last week's road win at former #1, now #3 Laramie. The Bolts spent most of last year ranked #1, and were cruising, before getting tripped up in the first round of the state tournament. Elsewhere in the East, the big game is on Friday, when the Plainsmen visit #2 Cheyenne Central. Rock Springs and Campbell County retain the #4 and #5 spots respectively.
The defending champs in 3A boys have a busy week this week, and each game is opportunity to prove they are still the unanimous #1. Worland beat Cody earlier this week. Now they have 2 more game on the road...at #3 Lander on Thursday and at Pinedale on Saturday. The Tigers have another big game later in the week, when they visit #4 Torrington on Saturday. Powell stays put at #2 this week, while Buffalo drops to #5, heading into their spring break.
In 4A Girls, the top 2 are unchanged this week. Thunder Basin is still on top, with defending champ Cheyenne Central at #2. The Lady Indians have the big game on Friday at #4 Laramie, who is tied with Cheyenne East for that ranking. Rock Springs is up to #3 this week. The Lady Tigers have yet to give up a goal, which is impressive. The reason why they're not getting more love, is because teams from the west have had a poor history vs. the east (see the first round of the state tournament in each of the past 9 years).
We're not fooling in 3A Girls. The big game of the week, was back on Monday as unanimous #1 Cody won the rematch of last year's state championship vs. #2 Worland. The Fillies have another challenge on Thursday, when they visit arch rival and #5 Powell. As for the Lady Warriors, they hope to recover on Thursday at #4 Lander. That leaves Buffalo at #3. The Lady Bison are off this week, for spring break.
