Wyoming Governor to Join Ribbon Cutting for New Laramie High School

State leaders including Governor Matt Mead will be on hand Thursday afternoon to celebrate the official opening of Laramie's new high school.

The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Thursday at the new LHS, located at 1710 Boulder Drive. Gov. Mead will speak before joining the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Laramie residents added to nearly $80.3 million in state funding with a $25 million bond measure, making for what is already being called Wyoming's best high school.

Roger Strube, owner's representative on the project, told the Albany County Board of Education on Wednesday that the building is substantially complete and a certificate of occupancy has been obtained.

Construction crews continue to work through a punch list of small and the district is withholding a final payment of over $200,000 pending completion of landscaping work, but the school is ready to host classes.

Thursday's celebration is, of course, open to the public. Refreshments will be served after the brief ceremony, and the community will be able to tour the new Laramie High School.
