Don't be surprised if you see a lot of lime green at the volleyball match between Laramie and Gillette on Friday night. The Lady Plainsmen volleyball team will use their home opener as a chance to raise money and support for their teammate Allison Lepper, who is in remission following a battle against lymphoma cancer.

The night will be a fundraiser called 'Aces for Allie' and all proceeds will go to help Allison's family with her medical bills. They will be selling lime green t-shirts during the sophomore, JV and varsity games. Lime green is the awareness color for lymphoma cancer and Laramie Head Coach Trisha Witkop said they would like all of the fans to wear lime green in support of Allie. They will also have some raffle items, including a getaway to the Vee Bar Ranch.

As far as the volleyball is concerned, it will be a chance for the inexperienced LHS team to show how much they've learned in their first two tournaments. With only two returning starters from last year's team which finished as the Runners-up at the state tournament, the season got off to a bit of a shaky start at the Cheyenne Invite. But Coach Witkop liked what she saw the following weekend, "We just saw a lot more of the team chemistry and were able to identify some turning points that have worked for us as a team."

This will be the beginning of 4A East conference play for Laramie, who is 8-4 on the season. Gillette won their conference opener against Sheridan and sits at 1-0 in conference play with an overall mark of 9-3. The varsity match is scheduled to begin at 6:30. Online coverage of the game will begin 10 minutes before first serve. You can listen live through Network1Sports by clicking here (Windows Media Player required.)
