The Laramie Rangers start a key stretch of conference games at home on Wednesday when they face the Sheridan Troopers.

The doubleheader starts at 3 p.m. at Cowboy Field in Laramie.

The Rangers are 25-20 on the season but 0-6 in the conference after being swept the first time through league action. Laramie lost at Sheridan on June 24, by scores of 8-0 and 2-1.

Coming off a 1-4 weekend in the Gabe Pando Memorial Invite in Colorado, Laramie manager Aaron Lozano said their goal is to keep their best pitchers on the mound.

“That’s going to mean, specifically on Wednesday and Saturday, some shuffling around a little bit with our pitching staff. In general, that’s a good sign that you need to have some bats going, as well. We want to make sure we can get Ryan Chamberlain, Tyler Oppie, Brandon Chavez, and Garrett Dodd a lot of time on the mound against these teams to have a shot to beat ‘em.”

Sheridan is 32-15 on the season and 3-2 in conference games. They lost at Cheyenne on Tuesday, 14-4, with game two canceled because of weather.

After Sheridan on Wednesday, Laramie will host Cheyenne on their senior day on Saturday, July 25 at 4 p.m. They finish their regular season at Gillette on July 30.

KOWB (AM 1290) will broadcast both conference games against the Troopers on Wednesday from Cowboy Field. Coverage will start at 2:45 p.m. with David Settle calling the action.
