The Laramie Lady Plainsmen lost their first home game and conference opener to the Gillette Lady Camels on Friday night in Laramie, 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.

With both teams tied at 14, back-to-back kills from Gillette outside hitter Kailey Anderson sparked a 5-1 run that the Lady Plainsmen could not recover from. The Lady Camels controlled most of the second set, but made several errors toward the end which swayed the momentum toward Laramie. The third set was a game of cat and mouse. Gillette had multiple three to five point runs, but Laramie was able to slowly close the gap every time. With the game tied at 18, Gillette went on a five point run and Laramie was unable to catch them again, losing the match in three straight sets.

Laramie (0-1, 8-5) was led by Madison Legerski with 12 kills and 14 digs, followed by Emily Pearson with 9 kills and 12 digs. Jamie Rhodine had 24 assists and 3 aces. Leading the way for Gillette (2-0, 10-3) was Anderson and Sydney Matheson with 8 kills each. Setters Briana Long and Dani Peterson had 16 and 14 assists, respectively.
