The end of the regular season is here for the Laramie Rangers American Legion Baseball team.

Laramie (32-21, 8-4) takes on the Jackson Giants (29-32, 4-6) in a conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Cowboy Field starting at 5 p.m.

The Rangers went 3-3 and lost to Cheyenne Post 6 in the championship game of last weekend’s Gabe Pando Memorial Wood Bat Tournament in Fort Collins.

Laramie opened the tourney with an 11-3 victory over the host Rocky Mountain Lobos. They lost a shootout to the Loveland Aces, 11-10. The Rangers won both their games on Saturday, 12-8, over Rogue Baseball from Colorado, and 8-7 over the Sixers. Laramie got out to an 8-2 lead over Cheyenne and held on.

Their final game of round-robin play was a 7-1 loss to the Casper Oilers.

The Rangers still made the tournament title game against the Cheyenne Sixers. Laramie had a 3-1 lead through four innings, but the Sixers scored 1 run in each of the last three innings for the victory. Diego Medina had 2 hits & 3 RBIs for Laramie in the loss.

These last two games of conference action are meaningful, as the Rangers try to lock up the No. 3 seed at next week’s state tournament. They can do so with a sweep of Jackson.

Laramie is 2-0 against the Giants this season with both wins coming early in the season on neutral fields in Casper and Rock Springs, respectively.

KOWB (AM 1290) will have live coverage of both games in the conference twin bill. Coverage will start at 4:45 p.m.
