The Laramie Rangers begin play at the ‘AA’ American Legion Baseball State Tournament in Casper today against the host Casper Oilers.

Laramie (28-19) hasn’t won a state tournament game since their opening round victory in 2015. This match-up won’t be easy. The Rangers are 0-3 against the Oilers this season, including a 17-16 loss three weeks ago at Mike Lansing Field in Casper.

Third-year manager Brandon Ruckman gives us a glimpse into how he’s feeling about his team going into state, their prospects for more success, the match-up with the Oilers and more.

Laramie enters the state tournament on a four-game skid. Their last victory was on July 2 at the Mustang Round-up in Fort Morgan, CO. The Rangers actually won their tourney with a 4-0 mark.

In the other two meetings with Casper, Laramie lost 14-4 in six innings in Casper and 9-3 in Laramie. Both of those games were in May.

First pitch is a t 7:30 p.m. You can listen to the game on KOWB (AM 1290) with coverage starting at 7:15 p.m. David Settle will call the action.
