Laramie Faces Two Longtime Rivals [VIDEO]
The last action in the first half of 4A East Conference play is Thursday and Friday for Laramie High School basketball.
The Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen will take on the Central Indians Thursday in Cheyenne, followed by a home game Friday against the East Thunderbirds.
The varsity girls’ game at Central is at 6 p.m. The boys’ varsity game is scheduled for 7:30 at the Central Fieldhouse. The home action at the LHS gym Friday has the girl’s at 5:30 and the boy’s at 7 p.m.
Laramie Lady Plainsmen
Seeking their first win in conference play, Laramie is also trying to stop a five-game losing skid. The Lady Plainsmen will face a Cheyenne Central squad also looking for their first league victory. Both are 0-3 in the 4A East.
Central (8-4) is led by Claire Swanson and Abby Fearneyhough, who both average 14.7 points per game.
Laramie (7-7) is led by Lexi Pulley at 9.3 points per game.
The Indians swept LHS in the two meetings a season ago.
Friday, No. 4 Cheyenne East will visit the Gem City. The Thunderbirds are led by Cosette Stellern. She’s averaging 15.3 points and 8.2 rebounds per game. Six other players score between four and 11 points per game.
Laramie Plainsmen
The Plainsmen will try to spring an upset on second-ranked Central. It’s the first meeting since the Indians knocked Laramie out of the post-season last March.
Central (10-4, 2-1) is led by Nicholas Fraley. He averages 14.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
Laramie (6-8, 1-2) counters with Jake Aadland, who is pouring in 17.1 points and snagging 6.1 rebounds per contest.
The Plainsmen have dropped two straight to Central.
Cheyenne East (8-6, 0-3) will visit on Friday night. They are led by Elijah Oliver, who scores 21.4 points per game to lead Class 4A.
