Laramie Faces Their Most Important Games [VIDEOS]
The single biggest day of the high school basketball season is Thursday for Laramie High School’s basketball teams.
The Lady Plainsmen and Plainsmen face a loser out scenario, as they play Sheridan in the first round of the 4A East Regional basketball tournament at Storey Gym in Cheyenne.
Laramie Lady Plainsmen
Laramie finished the regular season at 9-12 overall. They face the fourth-ranked Broncs, who are 12-9 on the season.
Sheridan won both games during the regular season; 52-46 in Laramie and 54-43 in Sheridan two weeks ago.
Lady Plainsmen head coach Laura Pollard believes her team has the ability to pull off the upset, as they go in with nothing to lose. Coach Pollard visited with KOWB’s David Settle about the match-up and balancing the pressure factor.
Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Cheyenne.
Laramie Plainsmen
The Plainsmen concluded their regular season last week at 7-14. They will take on a Sheridan Bronc squad with the same record.
These teams split their meetings in the regular season with each winning on its home court. Laramie defeated Sheridan 47-44 on January 22, while the Broncs got payback on February 20, 45-31.
Laramie head coach Ryan Puckett told KOWB’s David Settle why he has confidence in his team given the situation; how he feels his squad turns the outcome in their favor; and playing at different venue.
Game time is planned for 8:30 p.m.
Broadcast Coverage
KOWB (AM 1290) will have a live broadcast of both games, as part of a doubleheader from Storey Gym in Cheyenne. David Settle and VerDon Hoopes will call the action. Coverage begins at 6 p.m.
