An elderly woman has died after being ejected from the cab of a truck when it rolled on US 287 just one mile north of the Colorado/Wyoming border on Monday. Wyoming Highway Patrol Troopers believe inattention and driving too fast in rainy conditions are contributing factors to the crash.

Irene Bencomo, 69-years old, was one of six people in a Ford F-150 being driven by Alvaro Marquez. Authorities report that Marquez went off the road when it curved left, then over corrected, sending the truck broadside across the highway and down an embankment where it rolled 1 1/2 times. Bencomo was not wearing a seat belt and was declared dead at the scene.

One other passenger, 45-year old Maria Saenz, was hospitalized following the crash. Marquez has been cited for careless driving and non-use of a proper child restraint.
