A 45-year-old Wyoming man was killed Monday after his car collided with a commercial truck in Carbon County.

Investigators believe Thomas Nisbet was not wearing his seat belt correctly when the crash occurred at 1:15 p.m. Monday near Bairoil on US 287/WY 789, according to a crash report from the Wyoming Highway Patrol.

The report references physical evidence at the scene and a witness account.

Per the report, Nisbet was southbound in a Toyota Camry near milepost 29, when the Toyota crossed the centerline into the northbound lane. Once in the northbound lane, the Toyota collided with a northbound tractor-trailer combination.

After the vehicles collided, the Toyota spun about 270 degrees and came to rest on the southbound shoulder of the highway.

Investigators say the impact forced the Toyota's engine compartment into the passenger area, killing Nisbet.

The report states "impairment" being investigated as a possible contributing factor in the crash, but the report does not specify what that impairment may have involved.

The roadway was dry and weather was clear at the time of Nisbet's death.
