It's more than just your typical high school basketball girls-boys doubleheader Friday night at Laramie High School. The boys' and girls' basketball teams want to 'thank you' in the community for your support, so for they've announced it as "Fan Appreciation Night."

Laramie will be taking on Rock Springs with action beginning at 5:45 p.m. for the girls' varsity game and 7:30 p.m. for the boys' varsity game.

Laramie Plainsmen head coach Chuck Kern said, "The kids have been really supported this year by the community, and we're just trying to show our appreciation. So, we're really excited about getting the community involved."

During both varsity games, they will hand out a lot of t-shirts, plus hosting special events during a few timeouts and at halftime of both games. There are some other prizes to win, and even a faculty gauntlet competition.

Lady Plainsmen head coach Kyle Stucky said, "We want as many people in the surrounding area to come out and support these kids. We really got a great program, top-to-bottom; excellent kids; fun to watch. I think they bring a lot of energy, and it'd be nice to get our community out there supporting them and giving us some energy in the crowd."

Both Laramie squads will seek a measure of revenge against Rock Springs.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen (6-5) lost their first game of the season on December 5, 2013 at the McDonald's Classic in Cheyenne to Rock Springs (3-8) by a final of 44-26. The Laramie Plainsmen (2-9) seek to snap a four-game losing skid against the Tigers. Rock Springs (5-6) topped LHS at the same tournament, 66-65.

Both teams will also be in search of their first home win this season, as the Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen have lost to Natrona and Riverton last month at the LHS gym.

Laramie will conclude non-conference play by going to Green River on Saturday for another girls-boys doubleheader at Lincoln Middle School.
