Dallas Cowboys Backup QB Jon Kitna to Donate $53,000 Game Check in Awesome Gesture
Well, there's at least one Dallas Cowboys quarterback who we can all agree to love.
Jon Kitna, who was summoned out of retirement to serve as a backup QB for the Cowboys for their season finale against the Philadelphia Eagles, plans to donate his entire game check to the high school where he currently teaches math.
That's right -- Kitna will give the whole $53,000 check to Lincoln High School in Tacoma, Washington.
Kitna, who retired after playing with the Cowboys following the 2011 season, texted coach Jason Garrett after hearing starting quarterback Tony Romo was battling back problems to say he would be interested in suiting up.
I told Jason if he wants me or somebody to come in and call a play and be able to pull a play off if a bad situation happened, I would be willing to do that."
Kitna will back up Kyle Orton, who will start if Romo can't play.
The Cowboys and Eagles play Sunday in a winner-take-all game for the NFL East title. The loser will not make the postseason.
Kitna has started 124 NFL games for four teams in a career that began in 1996.
