Wyoming Highway Patrol Blames Driver Inattention for Crash Near Laramie
The Wyoming Highway Patrol believes driver inattention or fatigue were possible causes of a crash that closed down one eastbound lane of Interstate 80 near Laramie this morning.
WHP Lt. Michael Simmons said the crash occurred this morning at about 7:15 a.m., when a vehicle traveling eastbound on I-80 drifted off the road near milepost 315. Simmons said the driver overcorrected the vehicle, which tripped and rolled. The driver, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was ejected from the car. Simmons said the driver survived the crash was taken to Ivinson Memorial Hospital, but did not have more information about his condition.
Traffic slowed to a crawl as crews removed the wreckage. Simmons estimates that the crash was cleared around 9:45 a.m. Simmons said three other minor crashes occurred as a result of the heavy, slowed traffic.
