Wyoming All-Stars Begin Preparations For Games Versus Montana
The annual Wyoming-Montana All-Star basketball series will take place Friday and Saturday in Billings, MT, and Sheridan.
The players reported to Sheridan Wednesday and started preparations for the two-game series.
Wyopreps.com caught up with the head coaches of the Wyoming All-Stars to preview the upcoming games.
The head coach of the girls’ team is Ryan Davis of Sheridan College. This will be his third opportunity to coach the Wyoming All-Stars. Davis visited with Wyopreps’ David Settle by phone Tuesday evening.
There’s a new head coach of the Sheridan College men’s program. Cody Ball, a former Evanston Red Devil, was formally hired last week, and will now serve as the boys’ head coach for the Wyoming All-Stars. Ball told Settle Wednesday that he’s helped with these games the last couple of years, plus having played in the state he’s familiar with this series.
There are roster changes for both Wyoming All-Star teams.
The girls’ roster is down to only eight players. Aubrie Stenerson of Powell withdrew due to an injury, while Emma Jarvis of Gillette pulled out for a personal reason. Davis told Settle that due to how recent the notifications came in, those players’ spots will not be filled.
On the boys’ team, Elijah Leyva of Cody has pulled out of the game. Ball said that Laramie’s Hudda Curry-Herrera will fill that spot.
Another change has to do with Friday night’s games in Billings, MT. They have moved to Alterowitz Gymnasium at Montana State University-Billings. Saturday’s action will be at the Golden Dome from Sheridan College in Sheridan. The girls’ action is at 5:30 p.m. followed by the boys’ game at 7:30 p.m. both days.
Saturday will also feature the announcement of Mr. and Miss Wyoming Basketball.
