There was an upset in the 4A Boys field events as defending long jump champion Hunter Brown of Natrona was beat out by Emory Yoosook of Kelly Walsh on Thursday in Casper. Yoosook leaped 23 feet and a quarter inch as Brown's top jump was 22 feet 7 and a half inches. Sage Coventry of Kelly Walsh placed 3rd. On the track, Star Valley went 1-3 in the 3200 meter run with Peter Visser running 9.30.08 for the win. Asefa Wetzel of the Braves ran 9.35.86 for 3rd. Mac Staryk from Jackson was a close 2nd in the race with a clocking of 9.30.67. In the 1600 sprint medley, the Evanston foursome of Kody Smith, Gabe Morris, Tyrell Halladay and Dallin Cardon ran 3.35.13 to place first and break the 4A record in the event. Sheridan also broke the 4A record and finished 2nd with Star Valley 3rd. In the team standings after one day of competition, Star Valley has first place with 24 points, Kelly Walsh 2nd with 18 and Jackson 3rd with 17.
