2022 Wyoming High School State Track Championships Preview
The 2022 Wyoming High School State Track Championships return to Casper Thursday through Saturday.
Girls and boys teams from around the state will compete across all four classifications at Harry Geldien Stadium located at Kelly Walsh High School in Casper.
The defending girls’ team champions are Cokeville, Tongue River, Powell, and Cheyenne Central. On the boys’ side, it’s Burlington, Rocky Mountain, Lander, and Sheridan.
Several individual state champions returning from the 2021 state track meet. These are broken down by classification.
In Class 1A Girls: Bryli Groll (Cokeville) in the 400 & 800 meters; Ahyna Ivie-Moody (Hulett) in the 3200 meters; Kylee Dayton (Cokeville) in the 100 hurdles; Whitney Bennett (Saratoga) in the 300 hurdles; Jordan Stoddard (Southeast) in the high & long jump; and Shelby Ekwall (Southeast) in the shot put.
In Class 1A Boys: Grant Bartlett (Saratoga) in the 3200 meters, and Nathaniel Boreen (Burlington) in the pole vault.
In Class 2A Girls: Carleigh Reish (Tongue River) in the 200 meters, high jump & long jump; Adelaide Williams (Glenrock) in the 100 hurdles; Summer Schumacher (Glenrock) in the pole vault; Katie Christensen (Rocky Mountain) in the triple jump; and Brook Hofland (Sundance) in the discus.
In Class 2A Boys: Colby Jenks (Big Piney) in the 800 meters; Al Spotted (Tongue River) in the 1600 meters; Kendrick Beckman (Rocky Mountain) in the high jump; and Kelden Boettcher (Rocky Mountain) in the triple jump.
In Class 3A Girls: Waycee Harvey (Powell) in the 100 meters; Jenna Hillman (Powell) in the 200 meters; Amee Newman (Lovell) in the 800 meters; Eva Nitschke (Rawlins) in the 100 & 300 hurdles; Mylie Micheli (Mountain View) in the pole vault; and Brice Hansen (Lyman) in the shot put.
In Class 3A Boys: Cody Hape (Burns) in the 400 meters; Blaine Goklish (Lander) in the 1600 meters; Keltan Ewing (Douglas) in the 300 hurdles; and Connor Micheli (Mountain View) in the pole vault.
In Class 4A Girls: Sydalee Brown (Campbell County) in the 100 meters; Taliah Morris (East) in the 200 meters & long jump; Addie Forry (Laramie) in the 400 meters; Kate Brigham (Jackson) in the 800 & 1600 meters; Gabby Mendoza (Thunder Basin) in the 100 hurdles; Lillian Munoz (Green River) in the 300 hurdles; Stacia Barker (Evanston) in the high jump; Elayna Chafee (Kelly Walsh) in the triple jump; and Alesha Lane (Natrona County) in the discus.
In Class 4A Boys: Remar Pitter (Campbell County) in the long jump, and Cam Burkett (Kelly Walsh) in the shot put.
The state track championships begin at 3 p.m. on Thursday. They will finish at approximately 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday’s action starts at 9 a.m. Friday will be done around 6 p.m., while Saturday will wrap up at about 4:30 p.m.
The meet will run on a timed schedule.
