Laramie High School has been fortunate enough to have some great athletes in recent years. Those great athletes have produced some sweet high school memories and there's no time like the present to reminisce! Here are the top five Laramie High School sports plays in recent memory as called by KOWB's Sports Director David Settle.

The 2010 football season for the Laramie Plainsmen was not really a standout year. By the time the October 15th game against Green River came along, their starting quarterback had suffered a season-ending knee injury and the Plainsmen had lost eight straight games. But when Green River set up to attempt a game winning field goal, the Plainsmen stepped up in a great way and secured an exciting win.

The Laramie boys basketball team was down by 13 points at Alliance, Neb. before sparking a fourth quarter comeback. The win wasn't secured until the closing seconds when Dan Estes was given the ball and nailed an 18-foot jumpshot.

The Laramie Rangers (American Legion baseball team) were facing the possible end to their season when Gillette took a 9-5 lead in the top of the 9th inning at the state tournament. The Rangers rallied in the final inning to win in walk-off fashion on a 2-run single from Josh Warren. This talented Rangers team saw nine of its fifteen players go on to play collegiate baseball at some level.

Future Mountain West Conference Player of the Year, Aubrey Vandiver, gave the Lady Plainsmen quite a few highlights before her basketball career at the University of Wyoming. By far the best is her buzzer beating shot that advanced Laramie to the South Regional Championship game in 2006. Cheyenne East took the lead on a bucket from future Wyoming Cowgirl volleyball captain, JennaRae Jester, with only a few seconds left on the clock. Laramie quickly inbounded the ball and got it to Aubrey who heaved the miracle shot from near half court.

Another game-winning shot from Dan Estes tops the list. In a game at Riverton, Estes threw up a prayer from 40-feet with the Plainsmen down by 2 points and time running out. Estes went on to be named the Wyoming Gatorade Player of the Year for basketball and now plays at Mesa State.
