Ted Holmstrom Hired as Laramie Plainsmen Football Coach

Ted Holmstrom has confirmed to KOWB that he is the new Head Football Coach at Laramie High School. He replaces Bob Knapton, who resigned in December.

Coach Holmstrom comes to Laramie from Lyman, where he was thrust into the head coaching position three years ago, after their head coach resigned immediately following the first game of the season. The Eagles only won two games that fall, but found themselves in the playoffs the following year and in 2011 they made it to the State Championship game.

After receiving his undergraduate degree from Northern Michigan University and a Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University, Holmstrom was an assistant for 16 seasons at Michigan Technical Institute. He has been a head coach for six seasons. First at Hancock High School in Michigan where he was 11-8. While at Hancock he led his team to the State Playoffs for the first time in school history, their only conference championship and was named the Conference "Coach of the Year."

Similar success followed in Lyman, which had lost their last 15 games prior to Holmstrom taking over. After going 6-4 in 2010, he was named the "Coach of the Year" for the 2A West Conference. In 2011, his Eagles went 9-2, losing only to Lovell, once in the regular season and then again in the State Championship game.
