The year was 2012. The fire began on June 30, it was contained on July 9th and was officially called "out" in mid-December. By the time it was all said and done, the Squirrel Creek Fire had burned nearly 11,000 acres of land approximately 30 miles southwest of Laramie.

Construction has begun on a road leading to the Jonathon Quarry. The construction project is located about nine miles north of Laramie off US 30. Crews from WYDOT and the Knife River Corporation took advantage of the nice weather earlier in the week by removing topsoil to begin construction on the project.

The Laramie High School volleyball team lost to Kelly Walsh in a quarterfinal match at the 2012 Wyoming State Volleyball Championships 22-25, 26-24, 23-25, 20-25 on Thursday.

The search for the next president of the University of Wyoming will involve representatives of a cross section of the campus and constituents from across the state, the UW Board of Trustees decided on Friday.

The Piccadilly Circus is coming to town, and they are bringing all sorts of great circus fun. The Piccadilly Circus will be at the Albany County Fairgrounds on October 6th with show times at 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m., and 7:00 p.m

About 220 acres of pasture were burned by a grass fire 17 miles west of Laramie off of WYO 130. Laramie Fire Department Company Commander Billy Shutte tells media that lightning started the fire and rain helped contain it.
