Sanford Charged with Second-Degree Murder

A man accused of killing a Laramie resident in March is faced with a second-degree murder charge in connection to the murder, according to court documents.

Trevor Lee Sanford, 30, was identified as a person of interest March 30 by the Albany County Sheriff’s Department in connection to the death of Laramie resident Marilyn “Kay” Dlugosh, 75.

On March 29, at approximately 5 p.m., deputies were dispatched to 4746 East Skyline Drive in Laramie for a report of a possibly dead person. Upon arrival at the scene they found Dlugosh, who was confirmed to be deceased by EMT’s.

According to court documents, the victim’s son told deputies that Sanford had been living with Dlugosh since March 23 at the residence at East Skyline Drive.

Dlugosh’s son said his mother’s vehicle, a white Ford Explorer, was missing from her home. Dlugosh’s son said he had not been able to contact Sanford by phone and the last message he had received from his mother’s phone on March 28^th was not consistent with one Dlugosh would have made, according to the affidavit.

A cell phone ping on the victim’s phone determined it to be in a residence in Thorton, Colorado.

Sanford was apprehended by law enforcement in Westminster Colorado on April 4^th at approximately 1:45 p.m.

Sanford remains incarcerated in the Adams County Detention Facility in Brighton, Colorado.
