Both Laramie High School soccer teams are headed to the state championships next week, after winning first-round regional tournament matches Thursday.

The Laramie Plainsmen defeated Cheyenne South 2-0 behind goals from Baxter Tuggle and Alex Moreno. They will face the No. 2 seed Cheyenne Central in a regional semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday.

The Laramie Lady Plainsmen made it 2-for-2, thanks to their 3-1 victory over Cheyenne East. Lexi Pulley had two goals and an assist, while Sekoya Romero scored the other goal in their win. They will also play Cheyenne Central, the top-seed in the girls’ bracket, in a regional semifinal at 5 p.m. Friday.

Both teams will also have one match on Saturday that will determine their final seed for the state tournament next week in Jackson. All the games are being played at Thunder Basin High School in Gillette this weekend.
