It was a long night Monday at Cowboy Field for the Laramie Rangers, as they struggled with 9 errors defensively in a 25-3 loss to the Twins Falls (ID) Cowboys. The single 9-inning game was shortened to 7 innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Laramie manager Rich Wilson said, "Unfortunately there's days like this. You just don't want too many of them together."

Twin Falls exploded for 17 runs in the 6th and 7th innings, as they sent 27 hitters to the plate in the two frames, and broke the game wide open. The Cowboys tallied 19 hits, which included three doubles, and also took advantage of six walks, in addition to the Laramie errors.

Of the 25 runs scored, only eight were earned runs, and in fact the first 16 runs of the game were unearned to Rangers pitchers. Laramie used five different hurlers last night. Drew Burman started on the mound and last into the fifth inning, but he took the loss.

The Rangers managed only eight hits offensively. Alex Jordan led the charge, as he went 3-3, with one double, an RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base.

Laramie actually took a 1-0 lead on an RBI-single from Nate Hill in the first inning. Twin Falls responded with eight runs over the next four innings for an 8-1 lead. Jordan produced an RBI-double in the fifth inning that was followed two batters later by Kacey Bernaski's RBI-single. That pulled the Rangers within 8-3 after five innings of action and before Twin Falls two big frames.

Wilson added, "We'll forget about it, and this team has that type of mentality. Let's just step up and work harder. Sometimes you need something like this to slap you in the face, and say, hey, you're not as good as you really think you are, and you can work on things."

The Laramie Rangers (14-7) return to action Wednesday at Cowboy Field when they host the Casper Drillers in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. KOWB will provide game one coverage on the radio. Join David Settle for the broadcast that will start at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday.
