The two Laramie Little League All-Star teams will be heading to the state tournament in Riverton next week after victories on Thursday in Torrington.

Both Laramie teams qualified for state after wins over Torrington on Thursday night. That also puts Laramie in both championship games at the District 2 Little League Tournament in Torrington on Saturday.

Laramie Minors (9-10)

Three pitchers combined on a two-hit shutout as Laramie beat Torrington 4-0 on Thursday night.

Calvin Richardson, Gabe Goodspeed, and Austin Biggs allowed just two hits with ten strikeouts and only two walks over six innings on the mound.

The Minors all-stars scored two runs in the second on an RBI-ground out and an RBI single. Laramie added two more runs in the third inning on back-to-back RBI singles.

Xavier Blanco led the offense with two hits and one RBI. Cailan Verdecia, Porter Lang, and Max Markley added RBI’s for the Minors squad.

Laramie will play in the district tournament championship game on Saturday at 10 a.m. in Torrington. They will face the winner of Friday’s game between Gillette and Torrington.

Laramie Majors (11-12)

Dax Parvin hit two home runs and drove in seven to lead the Laramie Majors all-stars to a 10-1 victory over Torrington on Thursday night.

Parvin hit a two-run shot in the first that put Laramie ahead for good. He added a grand slam in the second inning. That’s when Laramie scored five runs and increased its lead to 7-0. The Majors team finished it off with three runs in the sixth highlighted by Jax McClean's two-run double.

Parvin, Maddox Dorrell, and Brock Lehning combined to allow one run on three hits. Together they struck out ten batters and walked only two.

Laramie won with only five hits, but they had seven walks and benefitted from four errors committed by Torrington.

Laramie plays in the district tournament championship game on Saturday at 10 a.m. Just like the Minors team, the Majors will play the winner of Friday’s game between Torrington and Gillette.

Both teams will advance to next week’s state tournament in Riverton. It will be July 28-31, 2021.
