Laramie is Prepped for Battling the Bison
Laramie wraps up a month-long home-stand with a girl’s-boy’s conference doubleheader against Cheyenne South Friday night at Laramie High School.
The Bison swept both LHS teams last season, and that included a loss by the Plainsmen in the post-season.
Laramie Lady Plainsmen
After splitting last weekend against No. 1 Gillette and Sheridan, Laramie goes for their second straight win in conference play. Third-ranked Laramie is 10-3 on the season and 1-1 in league play. They’ve won five of their last six. Cheyenne South enters with a 2-11 overall record and is 0-2 in the conference. They’ve lost six in a row.
Lady Plainsmen head coach Laura Pollard still believes the Bison are a dangerous team.
“I looked at the Sheridan-South game, and they kind of went in spurts. I think their struggling shooting-wise, but they’re still scrappy.”
Pollard added they’re not taking them lightly.
“I think the girls have a good mindset this year. We realize every game is important.”
Cheyenne South beat Laramie by scores of 49-47 and 38-33 in the two meetings last year.
Game time is at 5:30 p.m.
Laramie Plainsmen
The Plainsmen have fallen on some hard times. They’ve lost five in a row and continue to deal with some injury issues. Good news is according to head coach Travis Brown all the players are available to play Friday for the first time in a while.
Laramie is 3-10 on the season and 0-2 in the 4A East Conference. South is also 0-2 in league play, but has an 8-5 overall record.
Brown says Keyshawn Farmer leads the way for the Bison. He called him someone who stuffs the stat sheet. As for the team overall,
“They’ve got kids that’ll drive; very athletic group of kids. They’re going to try to get up-and-down the court in transition very quickly, and they’re going to hit the offensive glass well.”
Cheyenne South won three times against Laramie last year. They won twice in the regular season by eight and six points, respectively, plus a 49-39 win at the regional tournament.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
