The long drought is over the Laramie Lady Plainsmen swimming and diving team after they won the 4A State Championship last Saturday.

Veteran head coach and 4A Coach of the Year Tom Hudson led LHS to its fourth title in his tenure as head coach, but first since 2001. Laramie won by 10 points over Sheridan, as it came down to the last race. Overall, the Lady Plainsmen won three events, set two state records and six school records.

Hudson visited with KOWB’s David Settle about the state title. They discussed the long time in-between titles, the state and school records, individual and team performances and more.

Laramie is already a favorite for 2018, as they return 19 of their 23 state qualifiers from this year’s squad to next year. That meet will be held at the Laramie High School Natatorium Nov. 1 and 2, 2018.
