Wyoming HS Cross Country Week 2: Sept. 3-5, 2020
Week two of the high school cross country season sees four meets in-state meets with action split between Friday and Saturday.
The two biggest meets are on Saturday.
Here’s where teams are headed:
Friday, Sept. 4:
Burns/Pine Bluffs Invitational – Burns/Pine Bluffs, Cheyenne Central JV, Cheyenne East JV, Cheyenne South JV, Saratoga, Torrington
A pair of sophomores, Burns/Pine Bluffs' Emma Gonzalez and Saratoga's Grant Bartlett won the races.
Hulett Invitational – Hulett, Moorcroft, Sundance, Wright
Mallory Jones from Moorcroft and Sundance's Hunter Skeens won the Hulett Invitational.
Saturday, Sept. 5:
Buffalo Invitational on The Buffalo Trail System (2 races on Sat.) –
Meet #1: Big Horn, Lovell, Newcastle, Thermopolis, Tongue River, Worland
Worland's Carly Venable won the girls' division and helped the Warriors to the team crown.
Tongue River's Wyatt Ostler captured the boys' morning race. Worland won the team title.
Meet #2: Buffalo, Cody, Powell, Riverton, Sheridan
Cody's Riley Smith won the girls' race, while Sheridan took home the team title in the girls' division.
Austin Akers of Sheridan wins the race and helps the Sheridan boys win their second straight team title with a Perfect Score.
Douglas Invitational at Douglas G.C. –
Meet #1: Cheyenne Central, Glenrock, Laramie, Wheatland
Meet #2: Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Douglas, Rawlins
Rawlins' Sydney Thorvaldson and Cheyenne Central's Jason Frentheway won the Douglas River Run on Saturday.

Kelly Walsh vs. Natrona County Duel at 3 Crowns G.C. - a late addition to the schedule
Delilah Beadke of NC won the girls' varsity race, while Matthew Ahrndt Miller of KW captured the boys' race.
Lyman Invitational at The Clay Hills – Evanston, Green River, Lyman, Mountain View, Rock Springs, Star Valley
Elena Jensen of Lyman and Peter Visser from Star Valley won the Lyman Invite. The Lander girls and boys swept the team titles.
