Wyoming High School Volleyball Rankings: Oct. 5, 2017
#1's vs. #2's split their 4 matches last week, meaning there are 2 new #1's in the latest coaches/media rankings.
Laramie has finally climbed to the top of the 4A rankings. Winning on the road last week against former #1, now #3 Cheyenne East did the trick. The Lady Plainsmen got the #1 spot by 1 vote ahead of #2 Kelly Walsh, who have beaten Laramie twice so far this season. Elsewhere, Thunder Basin is back in the rankings at #4, while Evanston holds on to #5. The game of interest this weekend is when East visits TB on Saturday.
In the 3A rankings, #1 Rawlins swept #2 Douglas last week to keep the top spot. The remaining rankings are in the west with Cody at #3, Lyman at #4 and Riverton at #5. All of the west teams will be playing at Mountain View this weekend, which means the Lady Eagles will play both the Fillies and the Lady Wolverines.
Sundance won a big battle in 2A last week, and the rematch is this weekend. The Lady Bulldogs went on the road and took down #2 Wright. Now they will battle again on Saturday in the Lady Bulldogs' gym. Southeast and Pine Bluffs each move up 1 spot to #3 and #4 after picking up road wins vs. former #3 Lusk last week, which essentially caused the Lady Tigers to drop out of the top 5. Big Piney is the only west team ranked this week. The Lady Punchers are #5.
The last of the unbeatens fell last weekend in 1A. Cokeville rallied from a 2-0 deficit to top Little Snake River, and now the Lady Panthers are the new #1 team, while the Lady Rattlers drop to #2. Cokeville is getting hot at the right time, considering their win vs. LSR and a recent road win vs. 3A #4 Lyman. LSR will try to regroup this weekend at the Farson-Eden invitational. Joining them will be #3 Encampment, as well as the host and #4 team Lady Pronghorns. Lingle-Ft. Laramie rounds out the rankings at #5.
