CLARK, Wyo. (AP) — Residents in a rural Wyoming town say they remain on edge even after a quick arrest following a triple slaying.

Clark volunteer firefighter Jerry Ruth says the town's citizens were "lulled into a false sense of security in a way." Ruth had responded to the shooting Saturday and spotted the Audi SUV stolen from the victims as he left the scene. He called authorities and 19-year-old Stephen Hammer and 18-year-old Tanner Vanpelt were arrested.

The teens told investigators they stole a trove of handguns from a gun store in Cody last week. Authorities said Wednesday the pair hoped to flee to Denver to sell the weapons.

The pair took a roommate's car and drove to Clark, to steal the SUV for the trip to Colorado, according to court documents and Park County Sheriff Scott Steward.

Steward says the vehicle was owned by a woman who was friends with Hammer's family.
