Tornado Watch and Severe Weather Outlook In Southeast Wyoming

**UPDATE**

At 2 p.m. the National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for six Wyoming counties. The tornado watch is in effect until 9 p.m. tonight.

The Tornado Watch includes the following Wyoming counties:

Converse, Niobrara, Albany, Goshen, Laramie, and Platte.

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Severe Weather Outlook for Southeast Wyoming today.

Albany County’s Emergency Management Agency asks that everyone stay weather aware today with this forecast.

The following is the text of the advisory issued by the National Weather Service:

Severe thunderstorms are likely today over much of the forecast area, with the strongest activity expected in the enhanced risk, or orange-shaded areas in the above graphic.

Storms will fire over the mountains and high valleys of southeast Wyoming shortly after noon, and will shift east across the Wyoming plains through the late afternoon and into Nebraska by evening.

The greatest weather threats will be for large hail up to 2" and wind gusts greater than 58mph, however a few tornadoes are also possible.

The main threat for tornadoes will be within an area that extends from just west of Laramie, to Wheatland, to just east of Cheyenne. Make sure you maintain high awareness of the weather today, and check back for updates at www.weather.gov/cys.
