The Laramie Plainsmen track and field team dominated the distance events in route to winning the Okie Blanchard Invite in Cheyenne Friday.

The Plainsmen won five events and scored 182 points. They beat Cheyenne Central by 59 points. Cheyenne East came in third with 92 points.

The Laramie boy’s dominated the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Albert Steiner led a first through sixth place finish in the 1600. LHS scored 36 points in that event. Liam McInroy crossed the finish line in first place in 3200. The Plainsmen scored 32 points in the two mile, as they also finished in second and fourth through seventh places.

Other victories came from Nate Albers in the pole vault. He cleared 13 feet 3 inches and won by a foot. McCade Johnson captured the 300 hurdles and added a second place in the 110 hurdles. Laramie also posted a win in the 4X400 meter relay.

A total of 31 finishes produced points for the Plainsmen.

The Laramie girl’s squad came in fourth place with 66 points. Cheyenne East won their own meet by a half point over Rock Springs, 150.50-to-150. Cheyenne Central came in third with 91 points.

The Lady Plainsmen managed an event victory in the 4X800 relay with a time of 10:32.99.

The ladies added a runner-up finish in the 4X400 relay.

Individually, Kaitlyn Bingham came in second the triple jump and was sixth in the long jump. Teammate Kyra Wulff was third in the long jump. Katie Reynolds added a third place in the 200 meters and a fourth in the 100 meter dash.

Laramie will compete at the Natrona County Invitational Friday in Casper. They will also be part of the Thornton High School Maxine Ehrmann Track and Field Invitational Saturday in Westminster, CO at North Stadium.
