Plainsmen Are Set to Face Rival Cheyenne Central [VIDEO]

The Laramie Plainsmen hit the road for the first time in a couple of weeks. They head to Cheyenne Friday night to take on the rival Central Indians.

Both teams enter in need of a victory. Central is 1-3 after losing by 20 points at Rock Springs, while Laramie is 0-4 and coming off a 24-0 defeat at home to Evanston.

This game might turn into a bit of a shoot-out. The two defenses rank 9th and 10th among the ten 4-A schools in points allowed per game. Laramie surrenders 32 points per game, while Central is allowing 35.5.

The two quarterbacks will be the center of attention for both squads. Senior Brock Anderson rates third in 4-A in passing yards per game at 210.3. He's fifth in all-purpose yards per game at 201.5. Laramie counters with junior Taylor Dodd, who is eighth in all-purpose yards per game at 191. Dodd also ranks in the top ten in rushing and passing.

This will mark the 131st meeting on the gridiron between these two rivals. It's one of the longest running series in Wyoming high school football history. In recent years, it's been all Cheyenne Central. The Indians have won 16 straight dating back to 2001.

Laramie head football coach Chuck Syverson was joined by the 'voice of the Plainsmen," David Settle, for a game preview. They looked back at last week; what Central's schemes are going to be; the sense of urgency with this team; what it'll take to get them going and what Coach needs to see from his squad.

The game is set for a 7 p.m. kick-off at Riske Field.
