Three Wyoming American Legion baseball teams are taking part in 2019 Northwest Regional Tournament play in Idaho and Wyoming.

The Casper Oilers (45-16-1) are at the ‘AA’ Northwest Regional in Lewiston, ID. The action begins on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and a champion will be crowned on Sunday, Aug. 11.

The Cody Cubs hosting the Northwest Class ‘A’ Regional Tournament (NWCART) starting Friday, Aug. 9 going through Tuesday, Aug. 13. As the host team, Cody (45-14) is automatically in the field and is joined by the Wyoming state champion Cheyenne Hawks (38-20-1) in the field.

Both tournaments are eight-team, modified double-elimination brackets.

The ‘AA’ Northwest Regional champion will move on to the American Legion Baseball World Series in Shelby, North Carolina Aug. 15-20.

Casper Oilers 9 Juneau, AK Midnight Suns 8 - Juneau, AK eliminated - Oilers score 6 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to avoid elimination. Corbin Kirk had 2 doubles & 4 RBI's. Adam Julian scored the winning run on a wild pitch with the bases loaded and two outs.

Kennewick, WA Outlaws 11 Casper Oilers 6 - Casper eliminated - Kennewick scored five runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to break a 6-6 tie. Casper was led by Corbin Kirk with 2 doubles, 3 RBI's, while Adam Julian added a 2-run double

Cody, WY Cubs 3 Vauxhall (Alberta, CAN) Spurs 1 - Cody scores 1st two runs on errors by the Spurs. Jackson Schroeder adds an RBI-single. Heston Williams throws a complete game and allows an unearned run on 3 hits. Williams walked 2 and had 13 strikeouts.

Second Round Pairings, Saturday, August 10:

Layton, UT 12 North Coos Bay, OR 7 - North Coos eliminated 

Vauxhall Spurs (Alberta, CAN) 5 Portland, OR Red Sox 4 - Portland eliminated 

Wasilla, AK Road Warriors 6 Cheyenne Hawks 2 - A 5-run 3rd inning by Wasilla propels them to victory.

Burley, ID Green Sox 9 Cody Cubs 8 - Down 9-2 after 5 innings, Cubs scored 6 runs over the last 2 innings, but the rally fell short. Jackson Schroeder had 2 hits and 2 RBI's for Cody.

Third Round Pairings, Sunday, August 11:

Cheyenne Hawks 7 Vauxhall Spurs (Alberta, CAN) 5 - Vauxhall eliminated - Down 5-2, the Hawks took the lead in the 5th inning with 4 runs. Back-to-back errors led to 3 of those runs. Vauxhall finished with 5 errors defensively.

Layton, UT 6 Cody Cubs 3 Cody eliminated - Cubs trailed 4-0, but battled back within 4-3, before Layton added 2 insurance runs in the 6th inning. Cody had just 2 hits in the game.

Wasilla, AK Road Warriors 9 Burley, ID Green Sox 6

Semifinal Pairings, Monday, August 12:

Burley, ID Green Sox 4 Cheyenne Hawks 3 - Cheyenne eliminated - Burley gets a game-winning, walk-off, RBI-single in the bottom of the 7th to oust the Hawks. Cheyenne had rallied from a 3-1 deficit and tied it in the 6th inning. Fisher Brown had 2 hits and an RBI and Tyler Schlagel added 2 hits for the Hawks.
