Laramie’s Ruckman and Dodd Sign for College Baseball
Laramie Rangers outfielders Ben Ruckman and Garrett Dodd are continuing their baseball careers at the collegiate level.
Ruckman has signed with Scottsdale Community College in Scottsdale, AZ. After spending a year at the University of Wyoming and then playing his super-senior season, Dodd has signed with Western Nebraska Community College in Scottsbluff, NE. Both primarily play outfield.
Ben Ruckman was a first-team all-state selection in 2022. He finished with a batting average of .389. Ruckman led the Rangers with 65 hits and 72 RBIs. He tied for the team lead with 11 doubles and recorded team-highs of nine triples and nine home runs. As a pitcher, Ruckman was 1-0 with five saves and an ERA of 1.42 in 17 appearances.
Scottsdale was 22-28 in the 2022 season. The Fighting Artichokes’ head coach is Alex Cherney. They compete at the NJCAA level of collegiate athletics and are a member of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference (ACCAC).
Dodd received second-team all-state for this year. He hit .326 for the season with 46 hits and 27 RBIs. Dodd was the lead-off hitter for Laramie and tied for the team-high of 63 runs scored. As a pitcher, he was 2-1 with one save and an ERA of 5.16. Dodd made 14 appearances and threw 38 innings, the fourth-most on the team.
Western Nebraska posted a 21-33 record in 2022. The Cougars’ head coach is Mike Jones. They compete at the NJCAA level of collegiate athletics and are a member of Region IX.
