Laramie Wins First Game At Little League State Tournament
A six-run fifth inning propelled the Laramie 9-10-year-old All-Stars to a 9-3 victory over Big Horn at the Little League State Tournament in Powell Wednesday.
Down 1-0, Laramie’s TR Richardson singled in the third inning. He scored on a wild pitch and two passed balls for a 1-1 game. After neither team scored in the fourth, Laramie exploded in the fifth.
The 9-10 All-Stars took advantage of an error, a fielder’s choice, Tyler Gale’s two-run single, an RBI groundout and another fielder’s choice for six runs and a 7-1 lead.
Big Horn came back with two in the bottom of the frame and trimmed it to 7-3. Laramie answered with two more insurance runs in the sixth for the final margin.
Richardson led the Laramie offense with two hits and two runs scored. He was also the winning pitcher in relief of starter Dax Parvin. The 9-10 All-Stars had only six total hits but took advantage of seven walks and four Big Horn errors.
Laramie advances to play Gillette National, who beat Riverton 11-6. That game has been moved up to 12:30 p.m. Thursday. The winner of Laramie-Gillette National will move on to Saturday’s championship game at 9 a.m.
