Laramie and Cheyenne South have endured some difficulty this season but the 2 teams played a very eventful game on Friday night in Cheyenne. In the opening quarter of play, Alex Soto put South in front with a 7-yard touchdown run. The 2 point try was good to it was 8-0 Bison.

Laramie came back with a couple of touchdowns in the first quarter Isaac Sell with a 1-yard plunge and Colter Nunn ran it in from 6 yards out so after 1, the Plainsmen led 15-8

The 2nd quarter was back and forth as Soto scored his 2nd touchdown of the night for South. Sell scored his 2nd touchdown of the night for Laramie. Then Jayden Cummings returned a kick 85 yards for a TD. Which was followed by touchdown #3 from Isaac Sell from 6 yards out so Laramie had a 28-21 lead after 3.

To the 3rd Braeden Hughes had a 3 yard run for a TD  so we were even-steven at 28 all. In the 4th quarter, Nunn for Laramie with his 2nd score of the game so the Plainsmen were back on top 35-28. South saved the best for last with a touchdown pass from Hughes to Kobe Barto so it was 35-34. That was with 16 seconds to go and the Bison elected to go for 2 and the win and converted. It as a gutsy call but when you’re looking for your first win of the year, what do you have to lose. South wins it 36-35, negating a strong rushing performance by Sell and Nunn of Laramie who combined for 348 yards on the ground.

Both teams are 1-6 with South on the road at Gillette. Laramie has a tough encounter coming up on Friday at home, meeting Sheridan.
