It was a 2-2 weekend for the Laramie Rangers at the Alan Tellinghuisen tournament in Spearfish, South Dakota.

Laramie opened pool play last Friday with a 3-1 loss to Dickinson, North Dakota. The Rangers were limited to only four hits, two of them were by Drew Burman. Tyler Loose provided the only run on an RBI double in the seventh inning. Marshall Stuart started and took the loss on the mound.

In their second game, it looked like Laramie would pull out a win against Brookings, South Dakota. The Rangers held a 6-1 lead going into the bottom of the seventh when it all fell apart and lost 7-6. Brookings took advantage of two Laramie errors, two walks, a hit batter and three hits during the frame for the victory.

The Rangers were led by Tommy Johnson, who had an RBI double in the first inning and smacked a three-run home run in the fifth. Alex Jordan took the loss on the mound.

Saturday saw Laramie rally with four runs in the sixth inning for a 4-2 win against the Billings Halos. Abel Casas provided the go-ahead two-run single. Ian Hammontree pitched three shutout innings in relief for the win on the mound.

After a 1-2 mark in pool play, Laramie faced Yankton, South Dakota in match play on Sunday. The Rangers shutout Yankton 8-0 in just six innings of action. The game was shortened to due an 8-run rule in six innings.

Nate Hill threw five shutout innings, struck out six and allowed only four hits. He was the winning pitcher. Kacey Bernaski and Tyler Loose led the offense with three hits apiece. Bernaski drove in three runs with an RBI single in the first and a two-run double in the fourth.

The Laramie Rangers (14-6) return to the diamond tonight, as they face the Twin Falls (ID) Cowboys. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Cowboy Field. You can listen to Rangers baseball on KOWB. Join David Settle for the broadcast starting at 6:45 p.m.
