UNDATED (AP) — The Los Angeles Kings have done quite well so far in their three-game swing through eastern Canada.

The Kings have followed Tuesday's 6-0 shutout of Montreal with a 3-1 triumph in Toronto. The game was tied 1-1 until Jeff Carter scored midway through the third period. Drew Doughty and Kyle Clifford also tallied to support Martin Jones, who was in line for his third straight shutout until Cody Franson beat him on a power play with 5:30 left in the second period.

Chicago enjoyed a laugher as Patrick Sharp collected a goal and two assists in the Blackhawks' 7-2 pounding of Philadelphia. Marian Hossa (HOH'-sah) set up three goals, and Kris Versteeg and Michal Handzus (HAND'-zoos) each had a goal and an assist in the Hawks' highest-scoring output of the season.

The blowout also gives Chicago a league-high 51 points, two more than Anaheim.

The Ducks were 2-1 winners against Minnesota behind second-period goals from Alex Grant and Corey Perry. Jonas Hiller turned back 23 shots and blanked the Wild until the third period.

DETROIT (AP) — Detroit Red Wings goalie Jimmy Howard suffered a knee injury in practice on Wednesday, prompting the team to recall netminder Petr Mrazek from the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins. The Red Wings have ruled Howard out for Thursday's game at Tampa Bay and plan to reevaluate him Friday in Detroit.

The Wings also placed forward Henrik Zetterberg on long-term injured reserve, making him eligible to return Dec. 28 against Florida.

NEW YORK (AP) — The NHL has slapped Tampa Bay forward Richard Panik with a two-game suspension without pay for boarding Washington defenseman Karl Alzner.

Panik was given a major penalty for boarding in the second period of the Lightning's shootout loss Tuesday night in Washington. The suspension will cost him $7,590.
