Legion Baseball AA State Champs in the Northwest US, will meet in Wyoming to see which team is the best.

Gillette has been selected to host the 2020 American Legion Baseball Northwest Regional Tournament, August 5-9.

The modified double-elimination tournament, features state champs from Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii, as well as the host team, which gets an automatic bid into the tournament.

If the Roughriders are the state champs, then the state runner-up will be invited.

Normally bids for the AA Northwest Regional Tournament are given out in 2-year periods, but Lewiston, Idaho (the 2019 host), only wanted to host for 1 year, hence Gillette put in a bid to get the other year.

The tournament was last played in Wyoming in 2015 and 2016 in Cheyenne.

The Roughriders were tournament runner-ups in 2015, and Cheyenne Post 6 has been runner-ups 3 times, the last in 2006, when the tournament was played in Casper.

The winner of the tournament, automatically qualifies for the Legion World Series in Shelby, North Carolina.

A Wyoming team has never made it into the LWS.

Cody is hosting the 2019 A-League Northwest Regional Tournament.

The Cubs have finished runner-up in the tournament in 4 of the past 5 years.
